Hey everyone, my name is Chris and it is my absolute pleasure to be part of such a wonderful organisation. I am a born and bred West Coaster and have lived here most of my life. I am very passionate about Greymouth and particularly supporting the Youth. I love to stay active in the community and love making sure that the Youth of today have every possible opportunity they can get their hands on! I am always eager to support new ideas and new initiatives, especially those that are going to benefit the youth in our community. Please if you have any questions or queries don't hesitate to give me a bell.
Tania Gibson
Trustee
I am passionate about the role that the youth of our district play and want to encourage, support and help facilitate their voice in our district. I hold the Youth Portfolio at the Grey District Council and work on the Grey District Youth Trust as a Trustee to work to be active in the youth space. I am affiliated with other Mayors around the Country on a project called Mayors Taskforce for Jobs that helps Youth in our area find careers and employment and I engage with our local High Schools and Educational learning centres to get the word out there that there are lots of opportunities and lots of different career paths and to encourage them to be confident and take the every opportunity that they can. I also mentor a young person in our district through the Tuia programme each year.
I want to help make our district an inviting, vibrant place for our youth and let them know what how lucky we are to live where we do, be proud of where they come from and how with the technology of the world they can do anything they want and to look outside the box.

Tamara McGirr
Trustee
Hi, my name is Tamara McGirr. I am originally from Switzerland and moved to the West Coast 6 years ago. I've been working with youth since 2014 as a ski and snowboard instructor, youth co-ordinator as well as a tutor. I enjoy the "fresh" mindset of young people and the new approaches to solution solving. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wee family and friends and chatting to my soulmates overseas. I have a bachelor of science in business communications and spend some time studying and traveling in asia.
Teri-anne Bergin
Trustee
Kia ora, I’m Teri-anne,
As a born and bred West Coaster I feel very lucky to have grown up in the Grey District. As well as raising my own family here.
I am enthusiastic about supporting the rangatahi and tamariki in our community, and to give them every opportunity to access as many positive experiences as they can. A great outcome from this would be that our youth feel valued, heard and know they are an important part of the Grey District Community.
Being a Grey District Youth Trustee I am able to support events and projects that give ALL our youth access to fun community events, and to hopefully instill pride in their community.
I have worked for several years with youth and have gained first-hand knowledge of some of the socio-economic inequities that occur in communities throughout New Zealand. This has made me passionate about supporting Grey District Youth Trust’s dedication to OUR YOUTH.

My name is Samantha, and I am a youth advisor for GDYT. I am a year 13 student, attending Greymouth High School and currently am in the Pūmanawa leadership role within my school which aims to lead the way for Māori and Pasifika rangatahi. I am very passionate about being an advocate for Youth and enjoy working alongside the rest of the Greymouth District Youth Trust to ensure great opportunities, events, experiences and learning for Youth within the Greymouth District. Feel free to say Hi if you see me out and about in our beautiful Greymouth Community.
